TEAM ELIGIBILITY

AGE & GRADE

BOYS ONLY 4th/10U - 5th/11U - /6th/12th This tournament has adopted the following eligibility rules regarding age and grade based divisions. The AGE and GRADE based system currently for this tournament is 10U-4th Grade, 11U-5th Grade and 12U- 6th Grade for this tournament.

  • 10 & Under: All players must be 10 years old or younger on June 30, 2018
    o 4th Grade – a player must be in the 4th grade as of October 1, 2017 & the player cannot turn 11 before   June 30, 2018
  • 11 & Under: All players must be 11 years old or younger on June 30, 2018
    o 5th Grade – a player must be in the 5th grade as of October 1, 2017 & the player cannot turn 12 before June 30, 2018
  • 12 & Under: All players must be 12 years old or younger on June 30, 2018
    o 6th Grade – a player must be in the 6th grade as of October 1, 2017 & the player cannot turn 13 before June 30, 2018

GAME RULES

TIME CLOCK

  • Running Clock, BOYS ONLY 4th/10U - 5th/11U - /6th/12th
  • Two 12 minute halves or Four 6 minute quarters
  • Clock stops on all timeouts, dead balls, and foul shots

MERCY RULE

  • If a team is up by 20 points, then the clock will continue to run except during time-outs
  • Clock will stop again on all whistles once the score is back under 20
  • Teams cannot full court press when up by 20 points or more

TEAM FOULS

  • Six (6) team fouls for each player
  • Ten (10) team fouls double bonus

TIME OUTS

  • Each team is given four (4) full time-outs per game for regulation.
  • These time-outs do NOT carry over to overtime.
  • Each team is awarded one (1) full time-out for each over time period

OVERTIME

  • Overtime is two (2) minutes long for the 1st and 2nd overtime periods.
  • Starting with the 3rd overtime the overtime period will be one (1) minute-long and continue until a winner is determined
  • This overtime rule will be for both pool play and bracket play

GAMBALL SIZE

  • 4th – 6th grade / 10U-12U boys: 28.5 intermediate size basketball

GAME / PRE-GAME and HALF TIME

  • Teams must be ready to play at game time
  • If a team is not present at game time, a 5-minute grace period will be given
  • If the missing team has not shown up within that 5-minute grace period, the team present will be awarded a 15-0 forfeit win
  • Each team should be stretched and ready to go as soon as the previous game is finished
  • Half time: 5 minutes (but tournament site director holds the right to shorten if needed)
  • Pre-Game: 5 minutes (but tournament site director holds the right to shorten if needed)

SCOREBOOK/TABLE

  • The “home” team will provide someone to keep the official scorebook
  • We recommend that the “away” team scorebook keeper sit beside the home team scorebook keeper to communicate and be proactive on any disputes
  • The tournament host will provide someone to keep the scoreboard/clock
  • If for some reason no one is available to keep the scoreboard, then the away team will provide a responsible person for this urgent need

POLICIES AND REGULATIONS

ROSTER RULES

  • A player may participate in a maximum of two separate age/grade divisions. They must meet the age/grade eligibility for both divisions they are playing in
  • Players cannot play on two different teams within the same age/grade division
  • Each player must be on the roster for both teams and the player must play within the same organization for both teams
  • Teams must have a current updated roster online and with them (along with all paperwork for each player) for tournament eligibility
  • Teams must have this paperwork (report cards, birth certificates for each player) with them at all times during the tournament
  • We reserve the right to check these at any time

Note: players may play up in older divisions, but cannot play down.

PLAYER(s) DISQUALIFICATION FROM GAMES

  • If a player is ejected for a game, then he/she must sit out the remainder of that game and the following game
  • The player may sit on the bench, but cannot play
  • After sitting out the following game the player will be allowed to play in the remaining games of the tournament should the team still have games left

COACHE(S) DISQUALIFICATION FROM GAMES

  • If a coach is dismissed from a game, then he/she must sit out the remainder of that game and the following game
  • A coach that is ejected from a game must leave the gym for the remainder of that game
  • The following game the coach cannot coach, but can sit in the bleachers away from the team bench and cannot coach from the stands

NUMBER OF PLAYERS AND COACHES ALLOWED ON THE TEAM BENCH

  • Each team is allowed to have no more than twelve (12) players per team and two (2) coaches per team (one head coach and one assistant coach)

TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE

  •  Schedules will be posted on the Tournament Website and or an APP. Schedules will be posted no later than the Wednesday before the tournament start date

UNIFORMS

  • Each team should have a home uniform (light color jersey) and away uniform (dark color jersey).  We highly recommend that numbers be put on the front and back of the uniforms but all players must have a unique jersey number from all other players on the team

REFUNDS

  • We will refund any team for their tournament entry fee if it is before the tournament payment deadline date of June 12, 2018 (minus a 10% processing fee)
  • No refunds will be given after the tournament deadline
  • If a team forfeits for any reason, they will forfeit their entry fee
  • If your team is dismissed for any reason from our tournament or ruled to be ineligible no refund will be issued
  • A refund of 100% will only be given if we the tournament host has to cancel the tournament due to lack of teams (3 or less) in your age group

COACHING ATTIRE

  • Please dress appropriate during all games if you are sitting on the bench. We reserve the right to ask anyone to change attire during game if there is a negative presentation. Shorts are allowed to be worn while coaching

PROTEST

  • We will not accept protest regarding judgment calls by officials or game administrative mistakes.  Any correctable error must be changed during the game. We do not over rule any calls made by officials during the game
  • A fee of $100.00 cash (refunded if protest is upheld) must accompany all protests. Protests must come from a non-athlete member listed on the official online roster. The written protest must be submitted to the Tournament Site Director All decisions will be final

INSURANCE/LIABILITY

  • Teams/players are not insured for any of the games and therefore must have a consent/waiver of liability complete for each player prior to the first game

GENERAL TOURNAMENT RULES

SPORTSMANSHIP

  • We expect all Coaches, Players, and Parents to behave properly at all times and to show proper sportsmanship
  • Each tournament director holds the right to remove anyone from a gym due to anything they deem as unsportsmanlike behavior
  • Officials/refs can remove anyone from a gym if they choose to as well

ITEMS LOST OR STOLEN

  • We are not responsible for any items lost and/or stolen during the event. Please make sure you keep up with all of your personal belongings and put them in a safe place

CONCUSSION PROTOCOL

  • IF THERE IS AN INITIAL DETERMINATION THAT AN ATHLETE MAY HAVE A CONCUSSION, THE INITIAL STEPS WILL BE PUT IN PLACE:
    o We will remove the athlete from play
    o Inform the athlete’s parents or guardians about the possible concussion and give them the fact sheet on concussion
    o We will ensure that the athlete is evaluated by a health/medical care professional experienced in evaluating for concussion. Do not try to judge the seriousness of the injury yourself
    o Keep the athlete out of play the day of the injury. An athlete should only return to play with permission from a health care professional, who is experienced in evaluating for concussion

FORFEITS / POINT DIFFERENTIAL

  • All forfeits will be a score of 15-0
  • There is no maximum on point difference during pool play to determine the seed for bracket play only. In fairness of the game, we discourage teams from purposely blowing other teams out. We will remove a team if they continue to do so
  • If a team is ahead by more than twenty (20) points they can no longer full court press

RULE CHANGES

  • We reserve the right to make any rule changes at any time. By registering and playing in this tournament all teams agree to play by the current rules and policies set forth in this on the page

HOTELS

  • There are a lot of hotels to choose from in the “Greater Pittsburgh Area” This is not a “Stay and Play Tournament”. Therefore, make sure you are aware of the hotel refund policy as we do not control this and you are responsible for canceling your own hotel accommodations
